How well do you know your customers?
Sure, they come to your shop or website and buy your products, but do you really know why they come to you?
This month, July 20, is one of four annual observances of Get to Know Your Customers Day. That’s right, four!
Do you know why this day comes around four times in a year? Let’s just say it’s so that each small business owner, including you, can remember how important this is to the health of their business.
Building a business is about people bonding with other people
You hear this saying all of the time, “people buy from people they like.” This is why forming a bond with your customers should be a primary goal for your business.
If you don’t have an authentic connection with your customer, then your business is a new choice every time.
When you know your customers and build community, your business is a happy habit. They’re happy to see you and support your business.
Your customers are now your friends. They come to you and greet you with an honest hug or fist bump. Now that’s what it’s all about.
Earn the fist bump
Here are some things you can do get to know your customers
- Learn your regulars’ names
- Don’t just post on social. Get involved in the comments so people know you’re not a bot.
- Ask questions that help you understand why your customers visit you and what more they would like from you.
- Plan events at your location: block parties, pop-up guests, etc.
- Drop the hard sell and be a helper instead
Here are this week’s actionable steps:
